GENETICS TEST
Hippocrates once said: “One man’s meat is another man’s poison” – Lucretius 1st Century BC
By gaining insight into your unique DNA structure, you can make informed choices to optimise your health and help to prevent chronic disease.
The sample collection is straightforward, a simple saliva swab is all we need. Your results are sent to our partner laboratory and the comprehensive results will provide us with a deep analysis of your genetic makeup and gene expression. Using the results, your 360° Health Practitioner will work with you on a 1:1 basis to develop a Personalised Health plan tailored to your unique needs and goals.
YOUR GENETIC HEALTH
Nutrigenomics is the study of how food and nutrients affect your gene expression. E.g., how do omega-3 fatty acids in oily fish ‘switch off’ part of your immune system to prevent excess inflammation? Your ‘gene expression’ is impacted by what we eat. Gene expression is also called Epigenetics, this is the study of how your genes respond to their environment.
While you can’t control your genes, you can affect their expression – whether they’re likely to get “switched on” or “off”. This is referred to as ‘genetic expression’ and is strongly shaped by your environment. If we know you have a genetic manifestation that suggests you’re susceptible to weight gain or a disease, we can then create a personalised health plan for you that is sympathetic of these gene manifestations.
A METAPHOR TO DESCRIBE GENETIC EXPRESSION IS TO THINK OF THE SEED OF A PLANT. PLANTS REPRODUCE LOTS OF SEEDS AND THE STRONGEST SEEDS HAVE A POTENTIAL HEAD START IN GROWING TO BE THE STRONGEST POSSIBLE PLANT. WHAT IS CRITICAL AND ACTUALLY MORE IMPORTANT FOR THE SEEDS POTENTIAL TO FLOURISH INTO A STRONG PLANT IS ITS ENVIRONMENT – THE SOIL AND THE CLIMATE THAT SEEDS GROWS IN. OUR APPROACH IS TO FOCUS ON HELPING YOU TO CREATE THE ‘BEST SOIL’.
TYPICAL GENETIC DISCOVERIES
WHAT YOUR TEST WILL REVEAL
Genes that impact your detoxification, immune function, DNA integrity, energy production, neurotransmitter balance, inflammation control and ageing.
Genes that impact your liver detoxification pathways and individual responses to caffeine, alcohol, hormones, neurotransmitters, pesticides and medication.
Genes that impact your training, recovery and performance. Looking at cardiovascular adaption, strategic fuelling, strength, resilience and injury risk and how to balance stress and stimulation to help achieve your personal best.
Genes that impact your neurotransmitter levels, neuronal health, the thyroid hormone and inflammation. Symptoms of neurotransmitter imbalance include: insomnia, mood disorders and depression, attention deficit, OCD, addictive behaviours, motor control disruption and restlessness.
Genes that impact your gluten and lactose intolerances, gut integrity and vital nutrient availability. Hunger and satiety markers. Caffeine and alcohol response and detoxification.
Genes that impact your capacity to break down histamine. A build up of histamine can cause skin irritation, digestive complains, headaches, anxiety and insomnia.
Genes that impact your ability to synthesis, activate and eliminate oestrogen in the body.
